How Do I Create Engaging Content?
Digital content is relevant and educational content for consumers. It creates a way for you to drive new and existing customers to your business. Digital content is a great way to help your website rise in search engine queries from places such as Google or Bing. And I think this is one of the most important parts. It helps your business to stay relevant and supports the growth of your firm as we move into an almost, if not fully, digital age.
How do I create engaging content?
Now that we have a better understanding of why digital content is important, it is necessary that we also discuss how to create engaging content for your audience’s consumption.
Today we are discussing digital content in the form of blogging. Anyone can write a blog but putting together content that is engaging for your readers requires more than just putting together words. Let’s dive in!
Focus on telling your story.
Focus on telling your story. I dive into this much deeper in an earlier blog post. You can read more here. However, I will start by saying that if your blog has any chance of gaining traction, you must find a way to make it relatable to the reader!
Research, research, research.
I once saw a meme that said 60% of a marketing professionals’ day was spent on Google. Of course, years later, trying to find that same meme is downright impossible. I got a good chuckle from it, but it also was not far off from how we tend to spend our days. Especially if we are responsible for research.
When it comes to creating relevant blog content, it is important that you research keywords relating to your industry and specialties. Start by performing a quick Google search of major components within your industry. What kind of questions are popping up? Those are great to start addressing within the content that you prepare. I would also recommend talking with your website developer or an SEO professional to get a better understanding of your top keywords. That can help you to better target specific areas of your industry.
Grab their attention!
Do not be afraid to use an attention-grabbing headline. It should still be informative, but you want to be able to peek the reader’s interest before they ever click on your post. Think of what would grab the attention of your target audience or even yourself.
Get to the point.
I cannot stress this enough. Posts should generally be 500-1,500 words. Anything less than 500 words, and you probably did not have enough time to really dig into the topic or resolution. You are welcome to write more than 1,500 words. The longer the blog post is, the better it is for SEO. But it is important to remember that you want these blogs to generate discussion. Making sure you are getting to the point without boring your readers.
Make it flow.
Make sure the content flows. The last thing you want to do is have the content jumping all over the place. It is important that the material you are covering flows. It can be helpful to put together an outline before you begin writing so that you can better prepare how you want the information to flow from your introductory paragraph leading into your closing paragraph.
Promote it!
And lastly, promote your content. You spent all that time putting together this amazing material. Shout it from the rooftops! You should be promoting it through your company’s social media platforms, in your firm’s newsletters, and even on your personal social media if you would like.
