Behind the Scenes at SKC Creative: Day in My Life
Ever wonder what it's like behind the scenes at a digital marketing agency? Well, here’s a sneak peek into a day in the life of me, Skylar, at SKC Creative. From client calls to content creation, our days are always full, but they are also productive and fun!
7:00 AM – Rise & Shine
As a morning person, my work day starts early, usually at 7 AM. I begin by grabbing something to eat and going through emails. At SKC Creative, we're a remote team, so checking in with Stepfani when needed is key. We usually touch base about the week's priorities and any updates or new client tasks.
8:00 AM – The Power of Planning
After breakfast, it’s time to dive into the workday. The first thing I do is check my Asana board, where everything gets tracked. I love using Asana because it helps me stay organized, manage my tasks, and keep projects on schedule. Whether it's preparing blog posts for clients, designing new branding for a startup, or working on social media campaigns, Asana helps me see it all in one place. I also review our shared team calendar to ensure we are both aligned.
9:00 AM – Content Creation
One of my favorite parts of my day is getting creative. I open Canva or Adobe, our go-to tools for creating visually appealing content. From Instagram posts and stories to blog post graphics, Canva helps bring our ideas to life quickly and efficiently. Whether I’m working on a fresh new logo design or creating marketing materials for a client, Canva and Adobe are my creative playgrounds. The templates on Canva are a huge time-saver, and it’s a great tool to quickly iterate ideas, making sure the design reflects the client’s brand personality.
10:30 AM – Email Marketing
I use many different platforms for email marketing, all depending on the clients needs. Monthly newsletters are a great idea for brands that have sales or important information that changes monthly. Normally our templates stay the same, and I just change the information on each.
12:00 PM – Lunch Time
By midday, it’s time to grab a bite to eat. I usually keep lunch simple—something healthy to refuel for the afternoon grind.
1:00 PM – Social Media Management
After lunch, I jump into social media management. Metricool is our tool of choice for planning, scheduling, and analyzing social media content. It allows us to track multiple client accounts across different platforms, so we can schedule posts ahead of time and monitor performance. We make sure each post is aligned with the client’s goals, whether that's driving traffic to a website, increasing engagement, or simply sharing valuable content. Metricool’s reporting helps me track how well our posts are performing so we can adjust strategies as needed.
2:30 PM – Focused Work & Project Development
I typically work on larger, more focused projects in the afternoon. This might include drafting blog posts, logo creation, or fine-tuning a client’s brand voice. I enjoy taking on projects that allow me to dive deep into the client’s goals and vision.
4:00 PM – Wrapping Up & Team Collaboration
I usually wrap up by responding to any last-minute emails or social media messages, ensuring that everything is on track for the next day.
5:00 PM – Time to Unwind
At 5 PM, my workday is officially over. I try to disconnect as much as possible, so I can recharge my creativity for the next day. Usually it's spending time with my fiancé, coloring, or watching an episode of my favorite show that helps me relax.
At SKC Creative, we prioritize work-life balance, so I work 4 full days a week with a half-day every Friday!
We understand the importance of working efficiently and creatively to deliver results. The tools we use help us stay on top of our tasks and keep everything organized. But at the end of the day, it’s our personal connection with clients, our love for creativity, and our commitment to strategy that drives the success of our business.
